Before You Begin
Set aside dedicated time for this conversation after each person has completed the Deployment Canvas. Come prepared to share what you believe people will need as the change begins moving beyond your immediate team.
Open your time together with a simple prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom as you consider how to invite others into the change, equip them to participate, and remain attentive to what you will continue to learn along the way.
Share What You Noticed
Go around the room and invite each person to share:
Who did you identify as needing to understand, participate in, or be affected by this change?
What do you believe needs to remain clear?
What support might people need?
Where do people need freedom to contextualize?
What do you think we need to pay attention to as the change begins moving?
Allow each person to share before moving into discussion. Listen for recurring themes, important differences, and assumptions you may be making about what others will need.
Discern Together
After everyone has shared, reflect together.
What must remain clear and consistent as this change moves beyond our team?
What will help people understand why this matters and how they can participate?
What support will people need in order to move forward with confidence?
Where should we create freedom for people to adapt and contextualize?
How will we create ways for learning to travel back to us as people begin inhabiting the change?
Remember that deployment requires both clarity and freedom. The goal is to give people enough to move together without removing their responsibility to discern, adapt, and learn within their own context.
Capture What Matters
As a team, capture the essentials of how you want to approach deployment.
We need people to understand...
We need to equip and support people by...
We need to create freedom for...
We will keep listening and learning by...
Before You Finish
Identify one next step that will help you begin preparing others to enter the change. Consider whether you need to develop clearer language, involve additional voices, create a resource or training opportunity, or establish a way to gather feedback before moving more widely.
Complete the sentence together: Our next step toward releasing this change is...
Clarify who will take responsibility for that next step and when you will return to reflect on what you are learning.
Close your time together in prayer, asking God for wisdom to hold firmly to what matters, humility to keep learning, and courage to release responsibility to others.
As you move forward, remember that deployment is not the end of the change journey. The future you imagined in Dream will continue to sharpen as you learn, design, release, and listen again.
