Before You Begin
Set aside dedicated time for this conversation after each person has completed the Design Alignment Canvas. Come prepared to share the design opportunity you explored and what you noticed through the lenses of Skeleton, Skin, and Spirit.
Open your time together with a simple prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to help you see your organization clearly, recognize what is giving life, and discern what may need to change as you move toward the future you have identified together.
Share What You Noticed
Go around the room and invite each person to share:
What area of the organization did you explore?
What did you notice about our Skeleton?
What did you notice about our Skin?
What did you notice about our Spirit?
What design opportunity did you explore?
Allow each person to share before moving into discussion. Listen for recurring themes, shared tensions, and places where different parts of the organization may be pointing toward the same underlying design challenge.
Discern Together
After everyone has shared, reflect together.
What themes continue to surface?
Where does our current design already support the future we identified in Dream?
Where is there tension between the future we want and the organization we have built?
What have we learned through Discover that needs to shape our design?
Is the greatest opportunity in our Skeleton, Skin, Spirit, or in the relationship between them?
Resist the temptation to redesign everything at once. Look for the areas where greater alignment could create meaningful movement.
Capture What Matters
As a team, identify one or two design opportunities that feel most significant.
Complete these statements together:
The future we are pursuing requires...
Our current design is helping us by...
Our current design may be limiting us by...
The design opportunity we want to explore is...
Before You Finish
Identify what needs to happen before you begin making significant changes.
Do you need to understand the current design more clearly? Are there people who need to be part of the conversation? Is there something you learned in Discover that needs further testing? Do you need to explore how a change in one part of the organization might affect another?
Choose one next step that will help your team move from insight toward thoughtful design.
Close your time together in prayer, asking God for wisdom to build structures that support life, contextual expressions that serve your people, and an organizational spirit that remains attentive to his presence and activity.
In the next module, you will explore what happens when a new design begins moving into the wider organization, and why launching something new is only the beginning.
Work with Us
If your team finished this exercise thinking, “We can see where our organization needs to change, but we need help designing how these pieces fit together...” that's exactly where the All Change Lab can help.
Through a facilitated journey, we help leadership teams turn emerging insights into an intentional organizational design, aligning the structures, contextual expressions, and deeper culture needed to support the future they are building.
